CAP (Competent Assessed Persons)

This course focuses on the access platform itself, a crucial aspect of safety.


The IPAF CAP certification is designed to provide platform engineers the knowledge and guidance needed to perform the statutory inspections of MEWPs, MCWPs or Construction Hoists (CHs) to the highest specification in line with current legislation and regulations.

Delegates who have undertaken this course will also be considered as a competent person to plan, manage and carry out thorough examinations of powered access equipment.

The IPAF CAP course complements the IPAF operator training by promoting the same high level of safety that’s needed when working on powered access machines including its maintenance as well as its use.

Your training will be provided by experienced IPAF approved training operators, guided through presentations and individually tested.



On completion of the 1 day training course suitable candidates with be provided with documentation to prove they are certified as well as a CAP card to carry on site.

Once CAP certified, operators will be considered as competent persons to perform thorough examinations of platforms including the Work at Height Regulations, LOLER and PUWER 98.
