Need powered access for films? See the man on the couch
Powered access hire specialist JMS is planning a novel way to share expertise and advice with film, TV and media clients.
It is preparing a series of videos featuring the company’s film, TV and media specialist, Paul Hollands, and a very colourful prop.
JMS Sales and Marketing Director Scott Walker explains: “We’re going a little cinematic and putting Paul on a red couch to deliver his advice. The question is, where will the couch and Paul appear next?”
Scott adds: “Paul has developed significant expertise in the delivery of powered access solutions for a wide range of film, TV and media clients, which he is only too happy to share.
“Our film and TV clients find it invaluable having a powered access professional like Paul on hand, who can talk their language and understands the stresses and strains their industry.”
Film production powered access
Paul works from the JMS offices at Pinewood Studios so is perfectly placed to respond rapidly to powered access enquiries from production companies either based there or working there, or at nearby film and TV studios.
He says: “We are very pleased to have our platforms supporting some of the biggest film productions in the UK. These are exciting times for film-making in the UK, and we’re playing our part in delivering fast, effective and safe working at height solutions.”
Fast response and having teams prepared to work around the clock to deliver scissor lifts and cherry pickers, among others, when and where they are needed are certainly important JMS attributes.
Right platforms for creative industries
As is having the right access platforms ready for hire, says Paul. He adds: “JMS has been supporting film, TV and media clients for many years now.
“Strategic investment decisions take full account of the needs of clients in the creative industries. Our extended supply chain also means we will always find a way to get customers the platforms they need.”
JMS can also provide a full range of attachments for supporting equipment such as lighting rigs and cameras, which are especially important when powered access platforms are used for location filming and outside broadcasts.
JMS also delivers a range of working at height training, including IPAF courses, which are used by production companies to give their technicians the skills they need to use platforms safely and productively.
Working at height on location
The film and TV expertise that Paul and the rest of the JMS operations team have developed enables them to seamlessly plan and schedule the delivery, maintenance and collection of large fleets of different platforms as they are needed throughout a production process that can last many months.
While, as such a creative industry often demands, being ready to respond, at a moment’s notice, to challenging requests for powered access support that many other suppliers would struggle to fulfil.
